In winter, the system extracts heat energy from the outside air, even on cold days — and transfers it inside, delivering warm air through ceiling vents across your home.

  • Home size and layout: system capacity and duct placement are designed around your specific floor plan. Getting the sizing right at the design stage is the most important factor in long-term performance.
  • Ceiling space: the indoor unit and ductwork sit in your roof cavity. We assess available space and accessibility before confirming the installation approach.
  • Existing systems: if you’re replacing gas ducted heating, we inspect the existing ductwork. For VEU rebate customers, duct replacement is included in the quoted price.
  • Insulation: a well-insulated home requires less energy to heat and cool. We factor your home’s insulation into the system sizing recommendation.
  • Outdoor unit placement: we identify the optimal position for the compressor during the site visit, considering airflow, noise, and any local council requirements.

Is Ducted Heating and Cooling Worth It?

They are the same type of system — a reverse cycle ducted unit provides both heating and cooling. “Ducted air conditioning” and “ducted heating and cooling” refer to the same product. The distinction matters when comparing to gas ducted heating, which provides heating only.

Modern reverse cycle systems are highly efficient. For every one kilowatt of electricity consumed, a quality system produces around three kilowatts of heating or cooling output. All ducted systems sold in Australia must meet minimum energy performance standards. We can advise on the most efficient option for your home and budget.
