Split System Installation Melbourne

Split System Installation Melbourne — Reverse Cycle Heating & Cooling
A split system is the most straightforward way to add reverse cycle heating and cooling to a room — one indoor unit, one outdoor unit, and you’re done.
Beyond Heating & Cooling installs single head split systems across Melbourne’s northern and eastern suburbs, with Daikin as our preferred brand. Victoria’s VEU rebate program means eligible homeowners replacing a gas room heater with a reverse cycle split system can save up to $1,600 off the cost.
Single Head Split System Installation Across Melbourne
A single head split system consists of one indoor wall unit connected to one outdoor compressor. It provides reverse cycle heating and cooling for the room it’s installed in, making it the go-to solution for bedrooms, living rooms, home offices, or any individual space that needs its own climate control.
It’s a clean, discreet installation, the indoor unit sits on the wall, the outdoor unit goes outside, and the two are connected by refrigerant lines running through the wall. No ductwork, no ceiling vents, no major building work. Beyond Heating & Cooling installs Daikin as our preferred brand, and also works with Mitsubishi Electric and Haier where it suits the job.
VEU Rebates on Single Head Split System Installation
Victoria’s VEU (Victorian Energy Upgrades) program provides rebates for eligible homeowners replacing gas heating with efficient reverse cycle air conditioning.
Single head split systems qualify.
Replacing a non-ducted gas room heater: Up to $1,610
Replacing a hard-wired electric resistance room heater: Up to $840
Installing without replacing an existing gas system: Up to $140
Beyond Heating & Cooling is a registered VEU provider. We confirm your eligibility during the assessment and handle all rebate paperwork — you don’t need to do anything separately.
Is a Single Head Split System Right for Your Home?
A single head split system is the right choice when:
- You need heating and cooling in one specific room or open-plan space
- You want a cost-effective solution without a full whole-home system
- You’re adding climate control to a room that currently has none
- You’re a renter and the landlord is upgrading a specific room
- You already have ducted heating and just need cooling in one area
If you need to cover several rooms, a multi-head split system is more cost-effective than installing multiple single-head units, one outdoor unit serves all the indoor units, saving space and reducing installation costs.
For whole-home comfort from a single system with one controller, a ducted reverse cycle system is worth comparing.

How Reverse Cycle Split Systems Work
A reverse cycle split system transfers heat rather than generating it, which is why it’s significantly more efficient than gas room heaters or older electric resistive heaters.
In cooling mode, the indoor unit draws warm air from the room, passes it over a refrigerant coil which absorbs the heat, and returns cool filtered air to the room.
The absorbed heat is expelled outside via the outdoor unit. In heating mode, the process reverses, heat energy is extracted from the outside air and transferred inside, warming the room efficiently even on cold Melbourne winter days.
A quality reverse cycle split system produces around three kilowatts of heating or cooling output for every one kilowatt of electricity consumed.
Why Daikin — and Why Brand Matters
Beyond Heating & Cooling installs Daikin as our preferred split system brand. Daikin is one of the world’s largest air conditioning manufacturers with a strong reputation for reliability, energy efficiency, and after-sales support in Australia.
We also install Mitsubishi Electric and Haier where the job calls for it.
All brands we install meet VEU program requirements including a minimum 5-year warranty. We recommend what suits your home and budget, not what delivers the best margin.
